Sierra Club 2018 Awards Banquet, Kern-Kaweah Chapter (CA23 Bakersfield)

May 12, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 8:45 pm

$26

Sierra Club’s Kern-Kaweah Chapter Banquet is our time to honor activists, hear environmental updates, and enjoy a special keynote speaker. This year we welcome Dolores Huerta, winner of the Presidential Medal of Freedom bestowed by Pres. Obama, and co-founder of the UFW. Huerta has been featured in Sierra Club’s national calendar. In 2012 she wrote, “For us Latinos, our ties to nature, to the Divine Creation, are summed up in the phrase amor por el terruño—Love for the land. We feel a spiritual connection to the land that gives us life and nurtures us, and we reject the notion that this is a disposable planet. The Earth is not ours to abuse and poison—not the land itself, not the people living and working on it.”
